How It Works

Our Process

A clear, structured approach from start to finish.

  1. Step 1: Consultation & Brand Assessment

Understand your brand, target goods/services, and filing priorities before touching a single form.

  2. Step 2: Trademark Search

Comprehensive search of the DIP register — identical, phonetically similar, and visually similar marks in your Nice classes.

  3. Step 3: Application Filing

Detailed Thai-language application prepared and filed with DIP. Filing date secured to establish priority.

  4. Step 4: Examination & Response

DIP examination monitored. If an office action is issued, we respond strategically within the 90-day window.

  5. Step 5: Publication & Opposition Period

Mark published in the Trademark Gazette for 60 days. We monitor for oppositions and defend if needed.

  6. Step 6: Certificate & Ongoing Protection

Registration certificate obtained. We track renewal dates and monitor for potential infringement.

Transparent Pricing

Trademark Registration — Pricing by Nice Class

DIP government fees are ~THB 1,000 per class for filing + ~THB 1,000 per class on grant — pass-through to the Department of Intellectual Property. Plizz engagement fee covers strategy, application drafting, classification, and prosecution.

Pricing Notes

  • All Plizz fees exclude 7% VAT.
  • DIP government fees are published and pass-through (~1,000 per class for filing + ~1,000 per class on grant).
  • Limited protection (first-to-file rights) starts within 2 working days of complete documents. Full registration: 18–20 months. Term: 10 years renewable indefinitely.
  • Trademark Search before filing is strongly recommended — proceeding without a search risks rejection (engagement fee + DIP fee both become sunk cost).
  • Foreigners can own 100% of a Thai trademark — no need for Thai partners.

What happens when you skip the pre-filing search

The DIP examiner finds a prior-mark conflict. Studies of Thai DIP applications suggest 60–70% of self-filed marks face at least one office action. A 90-day response window starts immediately. If the response fails, the THB 1,000+ DIP filing fee and the engagement fee are both sunk cost. The applicant is now on public record having attempted the mark — making any second attempt more legally complex. The competitor meanwhile may have filed the same mark during the delay.

A clearance search and professional filing is nearly always more cost-effective than a failed DIY attempt followed by remedial prosecution.

Commercial Value

What Trademark Registration Unlocks

A registered trademark is not the end of a legal process — it is the beginning of a commercial capability set.

  • Infringement enforcement — registered mark is prima facie evidence of ownership; enforcement actions shift from costly passing-off litigation to straightforward injunctions and damages claims
  • Brand licensing income — licensees require registered marks; royalty income is commercially and legally cleaner with a registration certificate
  • Franchise expansion — sub-franchisees across Thailand (and ASEAN, via Madrid Protocol) require registered IP as a condition of the franchise agreement
  • M&A buy-side due diligence — acquirers and PE investors mark unregistered IP as a value-reduction item; registered marks pass clean and protect deal valuation
  • ASEAN priority filing (Madrid Protocol) — Thailand registration serves as the base for WIPO Madrid Protocol designations across ASEAN and beyond; build the regional portfolio from one anchor filing
  • Balance sheet recognition — trademark application costs capitalised as intangible assets under TFRS require a clear registration path; Narai Partners coordinates with Plizz Thailand's accounting team for correct treatment

Who This Is For

Who Needs Trademark Registration?

Thailand is strictly first-to-file — your foreign registration confers no rights here. These are the buyers who cannot afford to wait.

  • Foreign brands entering the Thai market — even if your mark is registered in your home country, Thailand is a separate first-to-file registry; a local squatter who files before you can block your own brand without your consent
  • Thai SME founders with 1–3 years of brand traction and no registration — this is the highest-risk profile; accumulated brand equity has zero legal protection until the DIP certificate is in hand
  • Franchise systems preparing to license — sub-franchisees across Thailand and ASEAN require registered IP as a condition of the franchise agreement; a pending application is generally insufficient
  • M&A buyers and targets doing IP due diligence — acquirers and investors list trademark registration as standard diligence; unregistered marks produce valuation discounts or deal delays while protection is filed mid-transaction
  • Brand managers at scaling startups with multiple sub-brands — each brand and sub-brand needs its own registration in each relevant Nice class; portfolio planning now prevents expensive gaps later
  • Existing trademark owners facing infringement — a registered mark gives standing to enforce; without registration, enforcement options are limited to slow, costly common-law claims
  • Importers and distributors seeking to register private-label or distributor brands and protect them from parallel importers

Plizz Consulting professional team
About Our Team

IR Global Member Firm — 150+ Jurisdictions

Narai Partners is Thailand's dedicated IR Global member. Cross-border filings, oppositions, and enforcement go through pre-existing trusted-member relationships in 150+ jurisdictions — not cold introductions to unknown foreign agents at the moment you need them most.

Thai-Script Phonetic Analysis — the Step Others Miss

Under Trademark Act Section 13, the DIP examines phonetic similarity across Thai and Roman scripts. A mark that looks distinct in English may be phonetically identical in Thai transliteration. Our clearance search catches these conflicts before the DIP does — saving the engagement fee, filing fee, and 12+ months of examination time.

Integrated with Corporate, M&A, and Accounting

Trademark prosecution under Narai Partners connects directly to company registration, BOI promotion, and bookkeeping through the same Plizz Group platform. IP assets are recorded correctly on the balance sheet and reflected in BOI compliance and audit work — one accountability chain, not three separate engagements.

DIP Filing, Prosecution, and Opposition — Partner-Led

Office action responses and opposition defences are partner-led, calibrated against published DIP guidelines and Supreme Court precedent on likelihood of confusion. For foreign opposers, Narai Partners coordinates through the IR Global network — not ad-hoc referrals.
