The Basics

What Is Bookkeeping?

The day-to-day recording of every financial transaction your business makes — every invoice, every payment, every reimbursement, every deposit — into a structured set of records.

Done properly, it produces three things a Thai-registered company cannot operate without: an audit trail that satisfies the Revenue Department, monthly P&L visibility for management, and the underlying data that feeds tax returns and the annual financial statement.

Bookkeeping vs. adjacent disciplines

Accounting is the broader function — preparing financial statements, applying TFRS standards, advising on policy. Bookkeeping is the foundation accounting builds on.

Tax filing uses bookkeeping data to compute and submit returns (PND series, VAT, withholding tax). Bookkeeping that's wrong produces tax filings that are wrong.

Legal Mandate

The Accounting Act B.E. 2543 requires every registered business in Thailand to maintain proper accounts in the Thai language, using double-entry bookkeeping, retained for at least five years.

The question is not whether to do it — but whether to do it in-house, with a freelancer, or outsourced to a firm.

Who This Is For

Who Needs a Bookkeeping Service?

You likely need a structured bookkeeping service if you recognize yourself in any of these situations.

  • Foreign-led company in Thailand

No Thai-fluent finance officer who can read PND tax forms, navigate the Revenue Department's e-Tax/e-WHT systems, and respond to enquiries in Thai.

  • Scaling SME outgrowing a freelancer

Symptoms: "I'm not sure if last month is closed," "the year-end audit took six weeks," or "I can't get a current P&L on demand."

  • MNC subsidiary with group reporting deadlines

Monthly close to HQ on day 5 or day 10 — most freelance bookkeepers cannot meet these cycles consistently.

  • Preparing for fundraising or due diligence

Investors typically request 24+ months of clean monthly P&L, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations. Books not at this standard delay or kill deals.

  • Manufacturer, F&B operator, or hospitality business

Higher complexity — COGS, inventory, multiple revenue streams — that benefits from specialist treatment. Reflected in the segment surcharge.

You probably don't need this service if…

  • ·

You're a microbusiness with under 10 transactions per month and no foreign element — a freelance bookkeeper will likely serve you well.

  • ·

Your primary need is a one-off financial statement — a single CPA engagement is more cost-effective than a monthly retainer.

How It Works

Our Process

A clear, structured approach from start to finish.

  1. Setup & Chart of Accounts

We design a chart of accounts aligned with Thai TFRS standards and your business structure — the framework all future recording builds on.

  2. Document Collection

We establish a document workflow: shared cloud folder or direct upload. Monthly handover typically takes 10–20 minutes of your team's time.

  3. Daily & Weekly Recording

Transactions recorded using double-entry method, each traced to supporting documentation. Daily batch processing catches errors early.

  4. Monthly Reconciliation & Reports

Bank accounts reconciled, trial balance prepared, P&L and balance sheet delivered to your dashboard by the 20th of the following month.

  5. Quarterly & Year-End Closure

All reconciliations completed, depreciation and accruals applied, final trial balance ready for audit or DBD filing.

Thai Regulatory Context

Why Bookkeeping Matters in Thailand

Three forces shape bookkeeping in Thailand that don't apply uniformly elsewhere.

Accounting Act B.E. 2543

Mandates Thai-language records, double-entry accounting, and five-year document retention. Expenses are tax-deductible only when substantiated with original documents — a missing invoice can disqualify a deduction even if the expense was real and legitimate.

Documentation-First Audit Posture

The Revenue Department traces every meaningful expense back to its supporting invoice, contract, and payment record. Books that lack this trail produce assessments and penalties even when the underlying business is honest and compliant.

Digital Transition 2024–2026

The Revenue Department actively promotes e-Tax Invoice, e-Receipt, and e-WHT — shifting record-keeping from paper to direct-to-government electronic transmission. Companies that adopt early gain audit-trail strength; companies that lag will eventually be required to migrate as paper-based filings phase out.

Legal Framework Reference

Accounting Act B.E. 2543 — Thai-language records, double-entry accounting, 5-year retention

TFRS / TFRS for NPAEs (FAP) — accounting principles for Thai companies; most SMEs use TFRS for NPAEs

Revenue Code §§65, 65 Bis, 65 Ter — business expense deductions, bad debt provisions, revenue recognition

Royal Decree No. 145 (B.E. 2527) — depreciation rates: buildings 5% p.a., machinery 10% p.a., vehicles 20% p.a., computers 33% p.a.

e-Tax Invoice / e-Receipt (Revenue Dept, promoted since 2024) — voluntary adoption; increasingly expected as paper filings phase out

e-WHT System — replaces paper PND 1, PND 3, PND 53 in many cases; faster credit confirmation, lower error risk

What's Included

Scope of Services

Six core deliverables in every Plizz bookkeeping engagement — delivered by qualified accountants, reviewed at every step.

Transaction Recording & Double-Entry

Every transaction recorded in the general ledger using double-entry accounting. Each entry traced to source documents — invoices, receipts, payment vouchers.

Bank & Cash Reconciliation

Monthly bank reconciliations completed within five business days of month-end. Discrepancies investigated and resolved; fraud caught early.

Expense Classification & Revenue Recognition

All expenditures categorized per Thai tax law: revenue expenses (deductible), capital expenses (capitalized and depreciated), or non-deductible items.

Fixed Asset Register & Depreciation

Detailed register tracking acquisition date, cost, accumulated depreciation, and net book value. Rates per Royal Decree No. 145 (B.E. 2527).

About Our Team

CFO-Led Judgment, Not Just Transaction Recording

Bookkeeping is a foundation; what makes it valuable is the management commentary, variance analysis, and tax-efficiency lens that comes from a finance leader's perspective. Plizz reviews check what the entries mean for the business — not just that they balance.

Integrated Platform Across Legal, Accounting, Payroll & Immigration

Plizz Group operates three affiliated entities — Plizz (Thailand) for accounting/tax/audit, Narai Partners (IR Global) for legal, Bangkok Business Club for PEO/visa. When a bookkeeping question crosses into legal or HR territory, one accountability chain handles it.

DFK International Access for Cross-Border Clients

MNC subsidiaries reporting to a parent in another DFK member country benefit from a known operating standard in 100+ countries. Cross-border tax structuring, intercompany pricing, and group reporting are routine — not bespoke.
